Staff Wellbeing Training
This positive, empowering course takes a proactive and preventative approach to address stress within teaching and school staff. Staff will develop a clear understanding of wellbeing and how to build it in themselves and as a team. The training covers strategies that help prevent burnout, improve work-life balance and build positive peer support. Empowering your school staff team to build resilience. Supporting them to be able to cope with the demands of teaching or working in the school environment, even during times of change and uncertainty.
Through learning from the field of Positive Psychology and Work Psychology, the training allows participants to experience and practise wellbeing interventions that can be applied personally, within a staff team and across a school community.
What will the workshop cover?
By the end of the workshop your staff will:
- Develop an understanding of personal wellbeing and how to build it.
- Explore thinking strategies that impact on stress levels and personal wellbeing.
- Learn and practice effective tools and strategies for wellbeing and resilience to deal with and manage change.
- Gain strategies that help prevent burnout and improve work life balance.
- Develop an action plan to improve their own wellbeing.

Underpinning Evidence
This workshop draws upon research and evidence from the fields of Occupational Psychology, Positive Psychology, and Evidence-based Coaching. These approaches have been empirically proven to develop wellbeing and reduce stress in workplaces. This workshop draws on both primary and secondary Occupational Psychology research and approaches that reduce stress. This workshop is designed to provide a psychosocial primary intervention that develops team peer to peer support. While also introducing secondary approaches to managing stress through changing staff's perception and reaction towards stressors through cognitive behavioral coaching techniques.
The workshop also draws on Positive Psychology wellbeing interventions to equip staff with wellbeing strategies to protect against stress. Practically applying evidence which includes ways to cultivate flourishing, positive affect, positive relationships and wellbeing.

We are aware that school workload is a major cause of stress in schools. This course does not provide specific strategies to manage workload. We feel it is more beneficial for participants to explore what their personal causes of stress are and supports them to explore and develop different perspectives and individual strategies that reduce the negative impact of workload pressures.
