Liz Robson MAPPCP: Expert in Youth Wellbeing and Resilience Coaching

Liz is a leading UK expert in youth wellbeing and resilience coaching, specialising in reducing social disadvantage through early mental health problem prevention, NEET prevention and tackling youth unemployment through innovative positive psychology coaching approaches in educational settings.

As a practising Positive Psychology Coach and Educator, she is a Chartered Fellow of the ACCPH, Liz has transformed how we support vulnerable young people. Through her company Worth-it, she has empowered hundreds of schools and organisations whilst training over 5,000 professionals in mental health, wellbeing and resilience interventions using positive psychology coaching to reduce barriers to learning and social disadvantage.

Pioneering Research and Qualifications

Liz was among the first worldwide to earn the dual MSc in Applied Positive Psychology and Coaching Psychology (MAPPCP). Her groundbreaking masters research explored how coaching and positive psychology can help vulnerable young people prevent mental health problems—work that was published in 2016 and continues to shape her coaching practice today.

Targeted Early Intervention Expertise

Building on her research, Liz has developed specialist programmes that prevent mental health problems in children and young people. Her innovative approaches include:

  • Positive psychology coaching (individual and group interventions for young people)
  • Peer-to-peer intervention programmes
  • System transformation initiatives, including the leadership of whole school approaches to wellbeing and resilience that reduce barriers to learning and social disadvantage
  • Workforce development within the child and youth workforce, including, education, health, social services, local authorties and the third sector

Higher Education and Teaching Wellbeing

Liz brings extensive academic credibility to her practice. She served as a Teaching Fellow in Organisational Psychology and Behaviour at Loughborough University, where she led the BPS Accredited MSc Work Psychology Module in Wellbeing and Work. She also taught modules in  Leadership and Transformation, Student Development and Coaching and Career Development. She is an Accredited Teaching Fellow of Higher Education.

Her teaching expertise and applied practice is sought after by leading universities. She has delivered guest lectures at:

  • Nottingham Trent University PGCE on teacher and pupil mental wellbeing
  • Leeds Beckett University Masters in Ethical Leadership in Education
  • Bucks New University Master's in Positive Psychology
  • The University of Warwick PGCE Teacher wellbeing stratagies

As a founding advisory board member for Leeds Beckett University's Carnegie Centre of Excellence for Mental Health in Schools, Liz helped create the Mental Health Award for schools—demonstrating her commitment to systemic change.

PASSIONS AND INTERESTS

Liz is passionate about system transformation, using applied Positive Psychology and Coaching approaches to create real and sustainable change and reduce disadvantage for young people. Her main areas of passion is supporting sustainable strategies that prevent mental health problems. She is highly creative and is motivated to take theory from the field of positive psychology and make it accessible and engaging to children and young people and professionals that support them.

She loves nothing more than creating content, courses, programmes and resources. She founded Worth-it with the aim to collaborate with schools and organisations to develop embedded approaches, that help children and young people flourish in life through reducing social disadvantage and preventing mental health problems and promote wellbeing through the use of practical and tangible tools and activities.

Liz is also passionate about contributing to the research and evidence base of Positive Psychology and Positive Education, regularly engaging in research projects, writing and speaking on these topics, including on her YouTube Channel.

Other passions include social entrepreneurship, especially in the creation of online and digital social enterprises that make a sustained and large impact. She is currently studying a Diploma in Trauma Therapy at the NAOS institute and plans to do a Doctorate in Education that will integrate positive pyscbology, coaching and NEET prevention for Post 16 young people.
