Introduction

Liz is a leading expert in Positive Education in the UK. She has developed several pioneering approaches to early intervention and prevention through her professional practice and research. As a practising Positive and Organisational Psychologist and Chartered Fellow of the ACCPH she has led Worth-it in its work supporting hundreds of schools and organisations and over 3,000 professionals develop the mental health, wellbeing and resilience of children and young people using positive psychology coaching interventions.

Liz was among the first people in the world to obtain the dual MSc Qualification in Applied Positive Psychology and Coaching Psychology (MAPPCP). Her masters project research, exploring how Coaching and Positive Psychology can help vulnerable young people prevent mental health problems was published in 2016. She has since built on this work by developing targeted early intervention programmes that support the prevention of mental health problems for children and young people, approaches include: positive psychology coaching, both group and individual interventions, peer-to-peer interventions and system transformation programmes such as whole school approaches and workforce development within the children's workforce.

Liz has developed a specialism in children's workforce wellbeing and organisational change. She was a Teaching Fellow in Organisational Psychology and Behaviour and Module Leader on the BPS Accredited, MSc Work Psychology Module in Wellbeing and Work, and taught on MSc modules in Career Development. Leadership and Transformation at Loughborough University.

She has provided guest lectures at Nottingham Trent University PGCE on teacher and pupil mental wellbeing and taught at Leeds Beckett University Masters in Ethical Leadership in Education, Bucks New University Master's in Positive Psychology and UEL's Masters in Coaching Psychology. She was also a founding member of the advisory board for the Leeds Beckett University, Carnegie Centre of Excellence for Mental Health in Schools for 3 years and contributed to the creation of the Mental Health Award for schools.

Liz has over 15 years’ experience applying Coaching Psychology, gaining a PG Certificate in Coaching in 2009. She is also a qualified careers advisor, with an extensive background in learning, training and development, employability, NEET prevention, youth unemployment and preventing social disadvantage.

Liz is the CEO, and Founder Worth-it and is a leading Positive Psychologist and Educator. She has been developing evidence-based, co-produced early prevention programmes for young people within schools, the NHS and local authorities for over 13 years.

PASSIONS AND INTERESTS

Liz is passionate about system transformation, using applied Positive Psychology and Coaching approaches to create real and sustainable change for young people. Her main areas of passion is supporting sustainable strategies that prevent mental health problems. She is highly creative and is motivated to take theory from the field of positive psychology and make it accessible and engaging to children and young people and professionals that support them.

She loves nothing more than creating content, courses, programmes and resources. She founded Worth-it with the aim to collaborate with schools and organisations to develop embedded approaches, that help children and young people prevent mental health problems and promote wellbeing through the use of practical and tangible tools and activities.

Liz is also passionate about contributing to the research and evidence base of Positive Psychology and Positive Education, regularly engaging in research projects, writing and speaking on these topics, including on her YouTube Channel.

Other passions include social entrepreneurship, especially in the creation of online and digital social enterprises that make a sustained and large impact.
