Wellbeing and Resilience Profile Evaluation

The Wellbeing and Resilience Profile Evaluation combines a leading measure of emotional and psychological wellbeing in children, with Worth-it’s proprietary Resilience Profile.

Both these profile components have been designed specifically to help target and evaluate the effectiveness of initiatives designed to promote children’s wellbeing and emotional development. The Worth-it Resilience Profile complements the wellbeing measure by monitoring levels of underlying abilities and skills important as facilitators of wellbeing and resilience.

Using this combined evaluation enables settings to identify young people in need of support earlier, removing barriers to support for mental health, and pinpointing young people’s specific wellbeing and resilience needs. This approach allows settings to target interventions in a strategic, cost-effective and efficient manner.

The data also provides evidence of the effectiveness of interventions and demonstrates organisations’ commitment to effective mental health and wellbeing support.

The Wellbeing and Resilience Profile Evaluation has been used in partnership with Bedford CAMHS Early Intervention Team to help target peer-led early prevention for mental health problems.

How is this evaluation conducted?

Young people complete the evaluation survey through an easy-to use on-line system that enables simple and flexible administration within schools and organisations. The system can be accessed from any web-enabled device, and the process of setting young people up to access the system can be tailored to meet the specific needs and constraints of individual schools or organisations.

A data analysis report will be provided in a format allowing for easy comparison of young people on the different measures. Reports are normally produced within seven working days of the young people completing the survey.

How does this evaluation help?

The Wellbeing and Resilience Profile Evaluation benefits schools by:

  • Providing insight to inform strategic approaches to enhancing pupil wellbeing and resilience specific to their cohort.
  • Helping determine priorities for improvement and development plans.
  • Identifying any gaps in provision and developing a strategic implementation plan to close these.
  • Monitoring the effectiveness of wellbeing or mental health curriculums, lessons or programmes for young people.
  • Providing valuable evidence for funders, sponsors, governors, Ofsted and awarding bodies.

Underpinning Evidence

The wellbeing measure we use has been validated as a robust measure for evaluating the effectiveness of interventions and projects designed to promote children’s wellbeing and emotional development.

The Worth-it Resilience Profile is based on a set of interrelated abilities and skills that research has shown young people find helpful in increasing choice and control over their thoughts, feelings and behaviour, and in helping them deal with situations. Young people’s feedback informed the development of the profile.
