School wide strategies for pupil wellbeing workshop

This practical, thought provoking workshop introduces staff to best practice approaches and builds awareness, confidence and capacity to support children and young people to develop wellbeing at school. Participants explore the strategic role they play in the promotion of positive mental health and wellbeing for the early prevention of mental health problems and the enhancement of learning.

Through the exploration of a proven Positive Education framework and evidence-based school-wide strategies, this workshop enables participants to develop the wellbeing and positive mental health of children and young people.

What will the workshop cover?

During the workshop participants will:

  • Gain insight into how a lack of positive mental health can impact on learning and achievement.
  • Develop understanding of when poor wellbeing may be impacting on engagement at school and learning.
  • Explore coping strategies and discover ways to cultivate positive coping in children and young people.
  • Explore how creating cultures of connection and belonging are fundamental to supporting pupil wellbeing.
  • Define and understand aspects of wellbeing and how to develop these in children and young people.
  • Be introduced to the positive psychology approach to improving wellbeing, gaining school wide action plan to build on good practice and develop wellbeing.
