Working with parents to improve wellbeing
Schools and organisations are becoming increasingly concerned about the mental health and wellbeing of the children and young people they support. Supporting parents to effectively encourage the development of positive mental health, resilience and wellbeing is a key strategic approach schools or organisations can take to support children and young people.
This approach to working with parents to support the mental health of children is underpinned by Positive Psychology, mental health in school’s literature and advice from the Department of Health and Department for Education.
Supporting parents to support their children
Developing Resilience and Wellbeing in Children: Workshop for Parents
Our workshops for parents provide proactive early support that encourages the development of wellbeing in children and young people through the provision of ideas, tips and self-help strategies that parents can use in the home and as a family. The workshops give parents valuable space to reflect on family life along with practical, evidence-based tools and strategies that they can easily integrate into home life to build resilience, wellbeing and positive mental health in their children. Our workshops for parents can be run virtually by one of our expert coaches or in house in your school or group.
The workshop helps parents gain an understanding of how to enhance their child’s wellbeing by using positive psychology techniques. Parents will get the opportunity to try out a number of techniques during the session and discuss with other parents how they can use these strategies at home.
What will the workshop cover?
Key elements participants will explore include:
- Defining wellbeing and resilience
- The benefits of positive relationships for wellbeing and resilience
- Developing emotional awareness and the benefits of positive emotions
