School Wellbeing and Resilience Evaluation

Any robust whole school approach to wellbeing requires the monitoring and evaluation of its success. Public Health England, the Department for Education and Ofsted all advise schools to apply evidence informed wellbeing monitoring as part of any school wellbeing strategy.

We have combined our extensive experience working with schools and track record developing wellbeing monitoring tools and processes to create effective, easy to use, whole school wellbeing evaluations. Our evaluations include measuring whole school culture and pupil wellbeing and resilience.

We work with schools to provide in depth recommendations on how to effectively use their wellbeing evaluations to develop, implement and embed their wellbeing strategy to achieve their desired school outcomes. Follow up evaluations can then measure the impact of approaches applied and demonstrate school wellbeing and resilience outcomes.

Benefits of Wellbeing Evaluations

  • This way of working benefits schools in several ways;
    • Providing an informed approach to enhancing whole school wellbeing and resilience specific to their school community.
    • Providing evidence for whole school wellbeing and mental health for governors, Ofsted and mental health and wellbeing awards for schools.
    • Informing school improvement and development plans.
    • Identifying any gaps and developing a strategic implementation plan to improve wellbeing and resilience.
    • Providing reassurance on what is working well and can be built on through implicit and explicit methods of application to improve wellbeing and resilience.
    • Serving as a reference point for progress through future measurement.

Pupil Wellbeing and Resilience Profile

    Our Pupil Wellbeing and Resilience Profile is used to identify individual needs of pupils within your school, inform targeting of wellbeing and resilience interventions for more at-risk pupils or address any trends within cohorts of pupils. Working in this way allows schools to pinpoint pupils in need for support earlier, removing barriers to learning and closing the attainment gap.Identifying pupils’ specific wellbeing and resilience needs allows schools to apply interventions more strategically, work proactively and increase internal capacities. Applying pupil wellbeing and mental health interventions in this way is cost effective and efficient, provides reassurance of effectiveness and demonstrates schools’ commitment to whole school mental health and wellbeing..

School Wellbeing Culture Evaluation

    Understanding the experience of pupils is critical to gaining insight into how and where to best apply culture-wide approaches to enhance wellbeing and resilience within schools. Through collaboration with 25 schools (primary and secondary) and in partnership with the NHS our School Wellbeing Culture Evaluation was shaped, covering five sub-themes; relationships, school connectedness, mental health and wellbeing awareness, dealing with challenges and optimism. The evaluation identifies mental health, resilience and wellbeing indicators at a whole school culture level. We analyse the findings and provide schools with a Wellbeing and Resilience Report ensuring an informed starting point for whole school approaches to wellbeing.
