Are you a school looking for mental health and wellbeing training for your staff or whole school?
In recent years, we hve seen an unprecedented increase in the mental and emotional health needs of children and young people. The recent State of Education Report identifies that 79% of teachers in both primary and secondary schools reported seeing an increase in stress, depression, anxiety, and panic attacks in their pupils.
Developing the wellbeing and mental health of the whole school community has been proven to be an effective way to tackle this problem and a way of improving learning and school outcomes.
The Department for Education is championing whole school approaches to mental health as best practice. Ofsted is also recognising the positive impacts that wellbeing and good mental health can have on achievement and outcomes. Many schools are now including resilience and wellbeing as key elements of school improvement plans.
Worth-it has worked with over 150 schools, empowering them to effectively support children and young people to improve resilience and wellbeing.
Whole School Approach to Wellbeing
Evidence informs us that whole school approaches are best practice for improving the emotional wellbeing and resilience of schools. This is backed up by recommendations from the Department for Education, Department of Health and Public Health England. Our whole school approach to mental health enables schools to develop a culture and ethos of wellbeing and positive mental health that benefits the whole school community.
Following collaboration and extensive experience working with a number of multi-academy trusts, primary and secondary schools, we have created a robust and effective flexible offer for schools wanting to develop a whole school approach to wellbeing.
Training for School Wellbeing
Our training is designed to support school staff to feel confident and capable in improving the resilience and mental wellbeing of pupils. We equip participants with a range of practical skills, tools and strategies that can be applied in the classroom as part of one-to-one support, group or whole school interventions.
We also provide training to schools that develops the wellbeing of staff. Teacher and school staff wellbeing is an essential component of any successful approach to school wellbeing.
School Wellbeing Evaluation
A key part of any effective approach to school wellbeing and positive mental health is monitoring and evaluation. We have developed evidence-informed wellbeing measurment tools for schools. Our wellbeing evaluations identify key starting points for progress in any school wellbeing strategy. We conduct evaluations of whole school cultures of wellbeing and resilience, and individual pupil wellbeing, to identify and target interventions. We also measure staff wellbeing levels. We provide schools with reports and feedback which inform and guide the school in developing tailored approaches to wellbeing that fit their needs and community.
Developing Wellbeing in Schools
Want to develop wellbeing in your school but not sure where to start or how to begin? Already developing wellbeing in your school and looking for support, training or interventions? Want to deliver an Inset session as part of your school’s approach to wellbeing? Our team of expert Wellbeing Consultants and Coaches can help you develop, implement and embed your approach to school wellbeing.
Supporting School Staff Wellbeing
Not being able to effectively support children and young people increases the strain on school staff’s wellbeing levels and their ability to perform effectively. Teachers and school staff are also facing demands and work-load challenges that impact on their wellbeing and performance. We work with schools to provide teacher and school staff wellbeing coaching or twilight wellbeing sessions.
Support for Pupil’s Mental Health
A least three children and young people in every classroom are experiencing mental health issues, which negatively impacts on their ability to learn and achievement levels. Our support programmes and workshops directly improve the resilience and wellbeing of pupils, increasing engagement in learning, attendance and higher attainment levels.
