Ruth is a coach, educator, consultant, and professional speaker in the fields of coaching psychology, positive psychology, positive education, transitions and international student wellbeing. After thirty years as a teacher and senior leader, combined with six years working as a tutor on the BSA Postgraduate Certificate in Boarding Management accredited by Roehampton University, Ruth completed an MSc in Applied Positive Psychology and Coaching Psychology at UEL (MAPPCP).

She combines lecturing/tutoring at UEL and the Institute of Continuing Education, University of Cambridge, with consultancy, training and keynote speaking at venues including ICEF Berlin; the English UK Academic Conference, London; the English UK Student Wellbeing Conference, London, the LLE Conference, Bristol; The Positive Psychology Symposium at New Bucks University; the University of East London, Nottingham University, The English Language Network Conference, Bournemouth and the British Psychological Society SFCG International Conference.

As well as her MSc, Ruth is a qualified (PGCE) teacher with a Postgraduate Certificate in Theatre Practice and a Postgraduate Certificate in Boarding Management.

She specialises in research on supporting students through change and planned transitions, working with schools, universities and language schools on training staff to understand and address the impact of the change. Her master's project explored how personal growth can arise from the adversity associated with migration and she has since developed training programmes that use positive psychology and coaching techniques to promote wellbeing in times of change and adversity.

As part of a whole-school or organisational approach she specialises in developing staff and student wellbeing and has been delivering Worth-it training courses since 2018.

Passions and Interests

Ruth is passionate about using applied Positive Psychology and Coaching Approaches to promote staff and student wellbeing and prevent mental health issues, particularly during times of change. She enjoys working with teachers and students in promoting excellent practice to support good mental health by delivering Worth-it's programmes.

She is also passionate about spreading a message of practically applicable wellbeing and strong mental health through keynote speaking in organisations that support students experiencing transitions, and in contributing to the research and evidence base of Positive Psychology and Coaching Psychology.
